Sports Department has the following well established and adequately equipped sports stadia and playing grounds as under:

Lake Sports Complex, Sector-1: This Complex was earlier known as Lake Club and was set up in 1961 making it one of the oldest sporting clubs of the city. It has a large club house spread on 10 acre campus. Now it has been renamed as Lake Sports Complex. The Lake Sports Complex rowing course was the venue of the 1989 Senior Asian Rowing Championship and the 1994 Junior Asian Rowing Championship. Many National Level Tournaments have been organized here. Besides Rowing, Canoeing & Kayaking, Sailing events are also being organized. It has playing facilities for Lawn Tennis (clay, synthetic and Grassy Tennis courts), Table Tennis, Billiards, Archery, Swimming, Squash and a Hi-Tech Gym having imported machines.  

Sports Complex, Sector 7: This 6 acre sports complex was set up in 1960 and has the facilities for Athletics, Big Hall Badminton, Gymnastics, Squash, Synthetic Basketball Courts and Cinder Volleyball Courts. 

Skating Rink, Sector 10: The rink was constructed in 1970. It has capacity of 500 spectators.   This indoor hall has Kota stone flooring. This centre offers coaching facilities in Artistic, Speed and Roller Hockey events of the skating discipline.

Cricket Stadium, Sector 16: The stadium was constructed in 1960 on a 10 acre site. In addition to the pitch, it has spectator-seating capacity of 35000. It has changing rooms for competing teams, practice nets, Media Centre, Spectator Gallery, T.V. Towers, Multi-Gym facilities. Major tournaments were held here such as World Cup Matches, (Men & Women), various International Matches and Ranji Trophy matches etc. The main pitch and the practice pitches are re-laid time to time. The Cricket Stadium has various facilities at par with International Standard/BCCI for hosting the one-day/Test matches. One-Day International between India v/s Australia was smoothly and successfully organized on 8.10.2007. Two practice matches were played between Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Punjab State-XI on 4th and 5th October, 2006. Flood lights were installed at the stadium in May 2013.

Football Stadium, Sector-17: The stadium was constructed in 1960 on a 4-acre site. Presently, the work of modernization of stadium is in progress by the Engineering Department. Sports Department organizes Administrator’s Challenge Cup, All India Football Tournament (U-17 Boys) under the aegis of All India Football Association every year at this stadium.

Hockey Stadium, Sector 18: The stadium was constructed in 1960 on a 4-acre land. In addition to the field and spectator-seating of 1000, it has a changing room, coach room, and a Multi-Gym. Important tournaments have been organized here that include All India Gurmeet Memorial Hockey, National Women Hockey 1989 and All India Invitation Hockey Tournament. Besides, Canadian & England clubs have also played friendly ties here. In the memory of Sh. Dharam Singh, a six-n-side hockey tournament has also been introduced since 2003. A new six-a-side hockey Astroturf ground has also been created. The automatic gun sprinkler system has also been installed.

All Weather Swimming Pool, Sector 23: The centre was constructed in 1962 on a 2-acre site. The All Weather Swimming Pool is functioning in both the sessions i.e. summer and winter.

Swimming Pool, Sector 23 (adjoining Govt. Plant Nursery): The pool was constructed in 1958 on a 3-acre site having a seating capacity of 300 spectators. This Swimming Pool is of 25 mtrs only for training and competition purposes. The Kiddie’s pool is constructed separately over there.

Table Tennis Hall, Sector 23: This international standard indoor Hall was inaugurated in May 1996. It has wooden flooring. In this Hall, 10 Table Tennis Tables can be placed.

Sports Complex, Sector-34: The Sports Complex, Sector-34 constructed in the premises of Govt. Model School, has been taken over by the Sports Department in which the facility of Big Hall (Judo & Wrestling), Swimming Pool, Table-Tennis, Squash and Badminton are available.

Sports Complex, Sector-38(W): The Sports Complex, Sec. 38(W) having facilities of Swimming Pool, Badminton and Squash.

Sports Complex, Sector-39: The Sports Complex, Sec.39 has been completed and inaugurated by the H.E. Administrator, Chandigarh Administration on 5.11.2019. This Sports Complex having facilities of Indoor Swimming Pool, TT Hall and Yoga. There is proposal of enabling facilities of Outdoor Skating Rink, Basketball Court, Volleyball Court and walking/running track along with boundary wall.

Sports Complex, Sector 42: This Sports Complex was constructed in 1988 on a 90-acre site. Asroturf Hockey stadium having capacity of 30,000 spectator's. The complex has Football Ground, Indoor Boxing, Judo, Wrestling, Weight Lifting & Badminton Halls (wooden floor), Basketball Hall (Synthetic court). The complex also has outdoor coaching Centres for Tennis (2 nos synthetic and 2 nos clay courts), Volleyball (2 cinder courts), Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Handball and Bridge. A fully furnished hostel is also a part of this complex where inmates of Chandigarh Football, Hockey and Cricket residential Academies reside. A Hi-Tech Gym has also been established in the Sports Hostel of the Complex. The approval for the construction of Billiard and Snookers Hall has also been issued and construction shall be started by the Engineering Department very soon.

Sports Complex, Sector-43: The Sports Complex, Sector-43 constructed in the premises of Govt. Model School has been taken over by the Sports Department in which the facilities of Gymnastic, Badminton, Swimming Pool, Table-Tennis, and Squash are available.

Sports Complex, Sector 46: This Sports Complex was constructed in 1975 on a 4-acre site. The stadium can accommodate 500 spectators. Provision of Grassy Athletic Track, Cinder Volleyball and Concrete Basketball Courts with Flood lights are there in the Sports complex.

Sports Complex, Sector-50: The Sports Complex, Sector-50 occupied the facilities of Big Hall (Table Tennis), Swimming Pool, Squash and Badminton are available.

Sports Complex, Sector-56: The Sports Complex, Sector-56 having the facilities of Big Hall (Boxing & Taekwondo), Swimming Pool, Squash and Badminton are available.

Sports Complex, Manimajra: This sports complex having the facilities of Multipurpose Hall (Wrestling), Swimming Pool, Table-Tennis, Squash and Badminton. Facilities of Athletics and Lawn Tennis are likely to be constructed in the Sports complex, Manimajra.

Sports Complex, Sarangpur: This sports complex having the facilities of Kabaddi / Kho-Kho, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletic & Wrestling.
