Chandigarh Sports Council

The Chandigarh Sports Council (CSC) is a registered society under the Societies Act,  created by the Chandigarh Administration to complement sports development programmes of the Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration

The main object to constitute the CSC   is to provide financial assistance to the  Chandigarh Sports Associations   which are duly recognized by the respective National Federations / Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports  for holding of State, National and International tournaments. Sports Council itself is also organizing National /International matches on its own. It also extends the cash awards to the sports persons of Chandigarh who bring laurels for the Chandigarh in National/international meets.

FUNCTIONS of CSC :-

• Grant recognition to Sports Associations and for holding state championship, participation of Chandigarh Team in the National & North Zone Championship besides holding of International, National and North Zone Championships;
• Run such schemes on behalf of the Directorate of Sports as may be entrusted to the Council from time to time;
• Arrange matches/tournaments/competitions of foreign teams visiting the Union Territory, Chandigarh for raising funds;
• Look after the welfare of the Sportsmen/women and to provide necessary monetary assistance to them;
• Grant financial aid to selected sportsmen/women/coaches/manager/veterans for recognized international competitions, duly sponsored by the Government of India, Ministry of Sports;
• Confer Cash award to the Sports Person for their achievement at the International/National level upto 3rd position & Coaches for producing players of National / International repute;
• Confer award to the coaches for their performance in producing players of National/International repute;
• Employ coaches on contract basis;
• Any other function which the President may direct the Council to perform;
• To organize refresher courses for the Coaches of Chandigarh Sports Council / Sports Department for the update of their knowledge;
• Administrative control for operation and management of Chandigarh Football, Hockey and Cricket academies as well as Lake Sports Complex.
